The front, surround and center speakers are high quality models capable of reproducing high definition audio, and the subwoofer uses Yamaha’s exclusive Advanced YST technology to deliver clean, crisply powerful bass. The receiver is capable of decoding the latest HD audio formats, which can be enjoyed together with CINEMA DSP sourround sound programmes, for natural and expansive sound imaging.

Yamaha’s exclusive Advanced Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST) generates incredible bass from small speaker enclosures. Advanced YST is the ideal method of combining amplifiers and speakers for maximum performance. This system’s advanced negative impedance converter intelligently adjust the negative impedance generation as the speaker moves, creating a hard, rigid cone that prevents deep resonant waves from leaking out of the speaker cone. This means the full power of the waves is forced out through the air port, resulting in clear, powerful bass.

Four HDMI terminals provide convenient one-cable connection of various HD digital sources. HDMI also offers two special features: 3D for 3D video signals and Audio Return Channel.

The front panel AUX input allows quick connection of portable audio players. Yamaha's exclusive digital signal processing ensures that you hear the best possible sound from these types of players.

Four SCENE buttons make operating the receiver easier than ever. They are initially set to default settings for BD/DVD Movie Viewing, TV Viewing, CD Listening and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button turns on the power, selects the input source and assigns the optimum DSP mode for that source.

The YHT-199 features Yamaha’s latest on-screen display, which provides colour icons for quick identification. Menus can be viewed in English, German, French, Spanish, Russian Italian, Japanese or Chinese. In addition, menus can be overlaid over the image.

Yamaha’s new ECO mode reduces power consumption by about 20%. It can be set from the top of the GUI menu.
