Statement about your relation with Yamaha or your instrument:
Yamaha makes things happen.
How does your instrument help you in your daily life as an artist?
If you want to play jazz flute you need to be playing Yamaha. It's versatility is unparalleled.
How would you characterise your instrument?
It's immediate, and has presence. You feel like you're working together.
Who was your most influential teacher and is there any advice which you still follow?
Derek Honner, F.R.A.M. The most useful thing he told me was: "If something works, don't touch it."
Advice for a young musician:
Get to play all the genres you can. Keep your sight reading up to strength, but when on stage play from memory - you will play better. Improvise every day.
