Frits Damrow has been principal trumpet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam since 1991.
With this orchestra he played under famous conductors as Georg Solti, Kurt Masur, Seiji Osawa, Lorin Maazel, Bernard Haitink, Mariss Jansons and many others. With the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Frits Damrow made many CD recordings and concert tours all over the world.From 1982 untill 1991 he served as principal trumpet in the Radio Symphony Orchestra of the Netherlands.
As a soloist Frits Damrow appeared in many countries throughout the world, including Italy, Germany, Spain, Russia, the United States, Japan and Mexico. His solo concerts vary from recitals with piano or organ to appearances with chamber or symphony orchestra. His solo performances can be heard on several CD\'s.
Besides giving Masterclasses around the world, he is professor for trumpet at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
Since 1999 de Haske Publications published several of his books, like Fitness for Brass, Multystyle Studies, Bel Canto for Brass and Festive Baroque.
From September 2009 he will change his positions as he has been appointed as professor for Trumpet at the „Hochschule der Künste Zurich – Switzerland“. (www.ZHdK.ch)
